The youth association “The New Hope” Žepče organized the second and final module of education for young people within the project “Don’t Gamble with Luck.” A reception with refreshments was held for all participants, and certificates of participation were awarded. We are proud that this workshop gathered 42 young people from our municipality. Once again, the workshops were prepared and led by Martina Tadić, Master of Social Pedagogy.
The goal of the education was to raise awareness about the risks of gambling and develop critical thinking on the topic. The areas covered during the workshop included:
- What gambling is and how gambling addiction differs from entertainment;
- Why gambling is appealing;
- Psychological and financial risks of gambling;
- How to recognize signs of gambling problems;
- How to make responsible decisions and say “no” to peer pressure.
Participants gained knowledge about the dangers of gambling, developed awareness of its consequences, and learned how to recognize and respond to risky situations. Below are statements from some of the participants.
“The education on gambling among women and girls was very informative. I learned how to recognize if someone is addicted to gambling and how I should approach such a person.” – Merjema
“This education on the harms of gambling was very useful and instructive. Through various activities, we learned how gambling can negatively affect an individual’s life, family, and society. I was especially moved by the stories of real people who have struggled with this addiction. I learned that we need to talk to our loved ones when we face this problem. I will continue to be part of this project.” – Azra
“The education through the project ‘Don’t Gamble with Luck’ taught me the importance of thoughtful decision-making. I learned to analyze risks and make fact-based decisions. I realized the importance of considering potential losses.” – Adna
