As part of the project “Connecting the Dots 2 – Advancing Child Participation in Decision-Making for Improved Child Rights and Democracy in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” 31 children and young people from different parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina took part in a three-day training designed for youth who have actively contributed to positive changes in their local communities through their initiatives. During the training, participants developed their knowledge and skills related to digital safety, recognizing online violence, protecting mental health, and responsible use of technology. Perhaps the greatest value of the training is best reflected in the participants’ own words:
“I definitely take online safety more seriously now, and I will dedicate more attention to it.”
“I learned how to recognize my emotions, how to calm myself when I feel anxious, and who to turn to for help in cases of online violence.”
“I plan to raise awareness among my parents, sister, and friends about the importance of addressing cyberbullying and responding to it in a timely manner. I will also pay closer attention to children who may be experiencing violence but do not have the courage to report it. I will support them so they know they are not alone and that there are people they can turn to for help.”
Watch how three days of learning, experience-sharing, and empowerment helped children and young people build the knowledge and confidence needed to use digital technologies safely, responsibly, and with confidence.
