Public Call Announced for the Academic Community to Participate in the Work of the Council for Children of Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Council for Children of Bosnia and Herzegovina, operating under the Ministry for Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina, has announced a Public Call for members of the academic community to participate in the work of the Council for Children of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the mandate period from August 2025 to August 2029.

PUBLIC CALL

for submission of applications for engagement in the work of the Council for Children of Bosnia and Herzegovina from the academic community

The Ministry for Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina invites interested individuals from the academic community, who meet the conditions set out in this call, to submit applications for appointment as a member of the Council for Children of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Appointments are made for a period of four years, with the possibility of reappointment for one additional term of the same duration.

Selected members will be engaged in the following activities:

  • Promotion and protection of children’s rights;
  • Initiating and actively participating in the development and monitoring of strategic, planning, and action documents in the field of children’s rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina;
  • Establishing cooperation and coordination among all implementers of the current Action Plan for Children of Bosnia and Herzegovina;
  • Reporting to the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the state of affairs, issues, and activities in the field of children’s rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina;
  • Preparing reports, expert analyses, initiatives, recommendations, and opinions related to specific measures and possible solutions for the well-being of children and the protection of their rights, to be submitted to the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina through the Ministry for Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina;
  • Establishing regular cooperation with the Child Rights Monitoring Department within the Institution of the Human Rights Ombudsman of Bosnia and Herzegovina and with the Joint Committee for Human Rights of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina;
  • Establishing cooperation and partnerships with domestic and international governmental and non-governmental organizations and the academic community working on the promotion and protection of children’s rights, and participating in all projects initiated in the interest of children;
  • Organizing scientific, professional, and other conferences, workshops, round tables, public forums, public lectures, promotions, seminars, research papers, press conferences, etc., on topics related to children’s rights;
  • Publishing research findings, analyses, and other content related to the promotion and protection of children’s rights;
  • Monitoring the implementation of the current Action Plan for Children of Bosnia and Herzegovina and mandatory annual reporting to the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina on its implementation, proposing measures to improve implementation, suggesting possible amendments and supplements, and drafting a new Action Plan to ensure the continuity of activities;
  • Coordinating the exchange of information and providing data within their field of responsibility.

In addition to general requirements, candidates must meet the following specific conditions:

  • A university degree (VII level) in social sciences;
  • Preference will be given to professors and public figures with experience in scientific research or in the development of documents related to children’s human rights.
