Caring for Mental Health Starts with Conversation

Through the initiative “Take Care of Yourself!”, implemented by the BaUM Youth Association from Banovići, young people were provided with a safe space to openly discuss their emotions, challenges, and needs. Through workshops, sessions with a psychologist, and other activities, as many as 127 young people gained new knowledge and skills to support and protect their mental health.

In this video, participants talk about the changes the initiative brought to their lives, what they are particularly proud of, and how they evolved from participants into active advocates for change. Their messages and recommendations for improving mental health support for young people were submitted to relevant institutions, demonstrating that the voices of young people can contribute to the development of sustainable, long-term solutions.

The initiative was implemented as part of the project “Connecting the Dots 2 – Advancing Child Participation in Decision-Making for Improved Child Rights and Democracy in Bosnia and Herzegovina”, implemented by the World Vision BH Foundation and the Our Children Association Sarajevo, in cooperation with the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with financial support from the European Union.
