What Does One Initiative Mean When It Is Led by Young People and Persons with Disabilities?

Through the initiative “Inclusion Is Not an Illusion”, implemented by the Sunce Association from Mostar, children and youth, together with persons with disabilities, mapped barriers across Mostar, documented the challenges they face in their daily lives, and initiated dialogue with decision-makers on concrete solutions.

In this video, Amra, the initiative coordinator, speaks about the changes they are most proud of, how the initiative contributed to greater visibility of the needs of persons with disabilities, and why the project “Connecting the Dots 2” provided an important space for learning, advocacy, and joint action towards a more inclusive community. Listen to her story and see that inclusion is not an illusion when children and youth are given the opportunity to become drivers of positive change.

The initiative was implemented as part of the project “Connecting the Dots 2 – Advancing Child Participation in Decision-Making for Improved Child Rights and Democracy in Bosnia and Herzegovina”, implemented by World Vision BH Foundation and the Our Children Association Sarajevo, in cooperation with the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with financial support from the European Union.
